Users can customize and input their own F&R codes to use in the termite reports.


How to Create Custom F&R Codes

  1. Hover over Codebook in the Navigation Panel and click on Findings and Recommendations Codes
  2. Click on the F&R tab
  3. Click on Newentry.JPG on the bottom left, then input your information in the corresponding text boxes.
  • By default, the Findings are combined with the Recommendations. If you wish to separate them into categories, click on the drop down menu at the top and select Modular F&R.
  • Alternatively you can change the default in Options in the General section.

  1. To edit a code, click on the Edit.png icon.
  2. When you are finished, remember to click Save.JPG

Importing F&R Codes

  1. Click Import List on the F&R Codes list

  2. If you have already downloaded the Findings template, you may skip this step. If you haven't, click DOWNLOAD TEMPLATE. You MUST format the spreadsheet correctly for the import to work.
  If you do not have the program Microsoft Excel, you can download the free spreadsheet program from Open Office here.
3. The template will begin downloading. Click the file on the bottom bar of your browser to continue.
4. Fill out the spreadsheet following the outlined categories. When you have finished, make sure to save.

Note: Type column in the template can be disregarded.

5. Go back to TermiteKiosk. Now, at the Import Findings screen, click SELECT A FILE and locate the saved document in your computer, and open.
6. Click IMPORT

How to Copy your F&R Codes from the WinTos Server to TermiteKiosk (Microsoft Access)

For customers who already own the Microsoft Office suite, you should be able to open the database file through Microsoft Access.

  1. First open the database with Microsoft Access, then scroll down the tables and double-click PredefinedComments.

  2. Open up the Finding & Recommendations import excel template. If you haven't downloaded it already, go to TermiteKiosk - top navigation panel > Codebook > Finding & Recommendations Codes > Import List > Download Template.
  3. On the Access table, click on the top row ("CommentNum" and "Comment" respectively). When you select "CommentNum," the whole column will be selected. Press Ctrl + C to copy the selection, then switch to the excel template. Click on the box right under "Code" in Column A (A2) and Paste (Ctrl + V). Do the same with "Comment" and paste it under "Description" (B2).

  4. Next on the Excel template, click on "Custom" under Type (C2). With it selected, scroll down to the end of the code list, and click the final box in the C column at the end of the code list and click on it while pressing the SHIFT key. This selects all of the boxes in between the first box (C2) and the last box. Now press Ctrl + D to duplicate the first box selected - now "Custom" will show on the whole column.

  5. Go back to the top of the list and select the two dark grey boxes "CommentNum" and "Comment" (A2, B2). In order to select both boxes you must press "Ctrl" when clicking on the 2nd box. Then, right click on the selection and click "Delete". Select "Shift Cells Up" on the pop-up window and click OK.

  6. The template will look like this when correctly formatted.

  7. Finally, click Save or Save-As, and select a location on your computer to save.

How to Copy your F&R Codes from the WinTos Server to TermiteKiosk (OpenOffice)

Those who do not own Microsoft Access, there is a free alternative you can use to view the database files and extract them to fit in the F&R Codes template.

  1. First, download Open Office
  2. When you open the installer, make sure you have at least Base selected (Open Office Base - database management program)
  3. After installation has finished, open the OpenOffice application. Select Database.

  4. A screen will open, click the option: Connect to existing database; select from the drop down menu: Microsoft Access. Click Next when finished.

  5. Click Browse to select the database file in the WinTos.

  6. Finally, select No, do not register the database (as you are using it just once to copy and paste information), then check the box "Open the database for editing."

  7. A "Save As" window will pop up- select a location on your computer to save the database.
  8. Scroll down to the database to "Predefined Comments". This is where your custom Finding & Recommendation codes are located. Right click on it and select copy.

  9. Make sure you have already downloaded the import template from TermiteKiosk. If you haven't, go to Codebook > Findings & Recommendation Codes > Import List, and download the spreadsheet.
  10. Open the spreadsheet template. Select the box right below "Code" (A2). Right click and click Paste or Press "Ctrl + V" on your keyboard.

  11. To fix the cell formatting of the Description column, click on B, above "Description" - this will select the whole column. Right click on the selection and click "Format Cells" and go to the Alignment tab. Check the box next to "Wrap Text Automatically," and click OK. Now the text will confine to the cell box.

  12. Next, click on the cell that says "Custom" (C2) and press "Ctrl + C" to copy. Then click on the box directly under (C3), scroll down to the bottom of the list, and click the last cell in column C while pressing SHIFT on your keyboard. This will select all the cells in between your first selection and where you last click. Then press "Ctrl + V" to paste. This will fill all the selected cells with "Custom".

  13. Go back to the top of the list and select the two dark grey boxes "CommentNum" and "Comment" (A2, B2). In order to select both boxes you must press "Ctrl" when clicking on the 2nd box. Then, right click on the selection and click "Delete". Select "Shift Cells Up" on the pop-up window and click OK.

  14. The final corrected template will look like this. Save, then import the new file into TermiteKiosk.

Exporting F&R Codes

  1. Click Exportlist.jpg.
  2. You can choose to Export all the codes or just a selected few.

  3. Saving your F&R Codes as an HTML will open a new tab with your text. Saving it as an XLS will save it as an Excel file and will begin downloading on your computer.
